As the very proud Owners here at Canterbury House, we welcome you to our home, a beautiful 19th-century 3-storey house, with the River Sid a stone’s throw away, and the National Trust Park “The Byes”right next door. The Byes offer wonderful, relaxing walks, or just to sit and enjoy the beauty of the park, with few minutes’ stroll into the town and you will find an excellent choice of independent shops,and pubs, and we recommend checking www.visitsidmouth.co.uk for up to date information.
If you enjoy going to the cinema, “The Radway”, which opened in 1929, really is a gem to be treasured, showing old and new films, and if the sea is a little cold for you, Sidmouth has a local swimming pool just down the road from us.

The wonderful Jurassic Coast is at the end of the town centre, a 10-minute walk from Canterbury, perfect to sit and take in the sea air. We can provide you with lightweight, easy carry folding chairs, a picnic rug/blanket to make your day more comfortable, and for a fee of £7.50 per person, a packed lunch with a flask of tea/coffee for your day.
Our rooms are comfortable and spacious, including two on the ground floor (twin and kingsize beds) all with en-suite, complimentary toiletries and drinks tray, fluffy white towels and Guest slippers, freeview TV, hairdryer, radio alarm clock, with free WIFI access duing your stay.
We value your privacy and give our guests complete space to enjoy their stay. Rooms are serviced on request, so please just let us know if you would like fresh towels, bins emptied, or anything else
during your visit.If you’ve forgotten any essentials, such as a toothbrush, we’re always happy to help
Breakfast is included, with our menu offering traditional full English, freshly baked pastries, yoghurts, fresh fruits, with lighter options such as pancakes, porridge, bagels and more, all freshly cooked to order. We cater for vegetarians, and should you have any allergies, we endeavour to serve your food responsibly.
Our Guest Lounge is most welcoming, with Netflix TV and board games, a small fridge with refreshments is there for you to help yourselves, and you are most welcome to bring back a takeaway to eat in comfort in the Lounge.
We welcome Guests to check in 3 – 5pm, with a cup of tea/coffee and cake, we do have an outside key safe in case your journey is delayed, and just ask you to call/text if you are delayed. We also have a few parking spaces on the drive, please just get in touch once you have booked, if there are none avaiable there is off street parking in the area and we can assist you if needed.

Very welcoming and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Rooms immaculately clean and beautiful presented.Exceptional breakfast caters for all. All covid regulations in place. Would highly recommend and we will be going back again at some point in the future.
Marc and Jan are the perfect hosts, nothing is too much trouble. I am gluten intolerant but the breakfast was superb every morning. The rooms were checked every day but they managed to be covid safe, which again gives you peace of mind. Thanks for a relaxing stay.

Marc & Jan are great hosts & very welcoming. The whole B&b is absolutely spotless and they were very organised with all the Covid rules in place so we felt very safe. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choices. We would definitely recommend Canterbury House B&B.
